The changing needs of business, the resulting economically-based changes in hiring practices, the parallel rapid advances in computer technology, and the dazzling pace of obsolescence make it imperative for the program major to meet the current and future demands of the workplace. The major in information technology leads to a Bachelor of Technology degree that provides students with the theory and applied skills critical to today’s information highways. The curriculum provides students with the necessary conceptual foundation in data structures, computer systems architectures, the principles of programming languages, and operating systems. In applied coursework in programming, database, and systems design, students are encouraged to develop a variety of design techniques and problem solving approaches.
