According to the National Healthcare Association (Volume VII, No. 10, 2003), over the next four years, at least three million additional personnel will be needed to fill vacancies within the health care sector. Needed positions include billing and coding specialists, hospital clerks, medical office administrators, pharmacy technicians, nursing technicians, laboratory and radiology technicians, and many other types of health care workers. Students graduating with this major will be prepared to enter a growing health care job market.
